CASSOPOLIS – Cass County Road Commission management and Teamsters Union 214 have agreed to extend the current collective bargaining agreement for an additional year beginning July 1, 2010.

The three-year contract, negotiated in 2007, was set to expire on June 30 of this year.

Under terms of the extension through June 30, 2011, the 31 members of the local union will not receive an annual increase and all other terms and conditions of the contract will continue throughout the extension period.

The 15-percent insurance premium paid by the membership will also remain at their current level.

Road Commission Manger Louis Csokasy commended the union and their membership on the responsible position they took.

“They really didn’t have to do this,” Csokasy said Friday of the proposal made by management. “It shows their cooperation in recognizing the financial pressures faced by both the State of Michigan and the Cass County Road Commission.”
