Donald S. Dudas, 92, of West Bertrand Road, Niles died at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at his home suddenly, but of natural causes.
He was born March 10, 1918 in Lyons, Ill. to Peter Matthew Dudas and Agnes Aldona (Masilunas) Dudas. He moved to Niles from Lyons, Ill, in 1932.
He retired in 1965 after 35 years of employment at Tyler Refrigeration Corp. He was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church and B.P.O. of Niles Elks Lodge 1322. He was a World War III veteran, having served in the United States Army. He was an active golfer and bowler.
He is survived by his nieces, Debbie Dudas, of Niles and Patricia Alcorn, of Madison, Ind.; nephews, Daniel Dudas, of Niles and Fred Finney Sr., of Martinsville, Ind.; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lillian Dudas, who died Dec. 22, 1981, and Dorothy R. Finney; a brother, Albert M. “Butch” Dudas, who died Jan. 21, 1982; and his companion, Evalyn Rowley.
Private committal services will be held at a later date.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Niles. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. David Otto officiating.
