In conjunction with National Financial Literacy Month and National Teach Children to Save Day, Chemical Bank employees will use their banking knowledge this month to inspire local elementary students to become life-long savers.

During the week of April 26, more than 120 employees of Chemical Bank will be providing basic financial education to more than 3,300 students by reading and discussing a storybook with them titled “Dollar, the Silver Squirrel.” In the storybook, Dollar, Chemical Bank’s mascot, shares with readers the message that saving a little can grow to be a lot over time.

“Our Teach Children to Save Program is a great way for us to introduce the concept of saving to children around the state,” said David B Ramaker, chairman, CEO and president of Chemical Bank. “We appreciate the opportunity to work with local elementary schools to educate and motivate children to become regular savers.”

Chemical Bank has been recognized by the Michigan Bankers Association as Financial Literacy Award winners in 2009 and 2010.
