Evelyn M. Horner, 77, of Dayton, Mich. passed away April 6, 2010 at Lakeland Hospital, Niles.

Evelyn was born May 3, 1932 in Three Rivers, Mich. to Roy M. and Anna (Tarman-Mishler) Knapp, who preceded her in death.

On Aug. 16, 1952, she married Lawrence E. Horner; they celebrated 57 years of marriage in 2009. Evelyn had worked at American Home Foods and also did home care.

Evelyn is survived by her husband; her son, Michael, and daughter, Diana, both of LaPorte, Ind.; three grandchildren, Michael, Britney and Ariel Horner; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Willodean (Revy LeRoy) Smith, of Niles; one brother, Gerald (Mary Carol) Knapp, of Columbus, Ohio; and 25 nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were two sisters, LaVon Spriestersbach and Carol Cooper, and five brothers: Marvel, Harold and Nelson Mishler and Lowell and Merrill Knapp.

A memorial service on her behalf was held April 9, 2010 at Calvary Tabernacle in Three Oaks with Pastor Brad Payne officiating. Special music was performed by nieces Deborah Johnson and Rebekah Cooke, both of Conway, S.C.

Her cremated remains will be interned at Posy Chapel Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Ind. at a later date.
