Dear editor:

I write regarding Mr. Phillipson’s guest column of April 9, “What is a conservative?”

I was deeply impressed. As a man of almost 70 years and being of a working class background, I found myself voting Democratic while all the while feeling generally conservative in my views. I want to thank Mr. Phillipson for clarifying the issues for me and the Niles Daily Star for publishing his concise, astute observations.
