The Korean War Veterans of Southwest Michigan (KWVSWM) will hold its first official meeting of the year Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at The Super Buffet, just off Pipestone Road behind Applebee’s in Benton Harbor.

This will be the 16th year of operation for these North Berrien County Veterans. They participate in a number of parades around southwest Michigan each summer. They also have an annual picnic each summer, usually in August. The KWVSWM holds ceremonies at our Monument on Lake Boulevard on both Memorial Day and Veterans Day. The KWV Monument is across the street from the Boulevard Motel. The public is invited to attend these ceremonies.

Many of its members have gone back to Korea over the years to visit where they once served. This summer, seven of its members will go with their good Korean friend, Henry Seog, to see South Korea once again.

The KWVSWM has about 75 members and 12 honorary members. Any veteran who served our country between 1950 and 1955 is eligible to become a member of this group.
