360-hour Pipe Welding Academy offered

BENTON HARBOR – Certified pipe welders continue to be in high demand in many industries including nuclear energy and petroleum.
To help train professionals for this career path, Lake Michigan College’s Workforce Training Institute will offer a Pipe Welding Academy.
All classes will be held at LMC’s M-TEC facility in Benton Harbor.
This 360-hour course provides the welding student with advanced topics involving the welding of pipe using the shielded arc welding process.
Review topics include electrode selection, equipment setup and safe shop practices.
Emphasis is placed on weld positions 5G and 6G using various electrodes. Classes meet Mondays through Thursdays, April 19 through July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Cost of the workshop is $5,475.
The prerequisite for this academy is successful completion of the LMC Welding Academy or successful 3G weld test and permission of the program instructor.
