• Carl Jackson, 24, of Dowagiac, was sentenced to 300 days in jail with credit for 136 already served for charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and attempt to interfere with electronic communications.

In October of 2009, Jackson forcibly entered his girlfriend, Regina Northrop’s house, after finding out she had kicked him out of her house. He then assaulted her, choking her to the point that she blacked out. Jackson also took away her cell phone when she tried to call the police.

• Jonathan Howard, 27, of Niles, was sentenced to prison for 51 months to 20 years with 101 days credit for time already served. In January, he pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to operate a methamphetamine lab, operating a meth lab and possession of meth.
• Billy Murphy, 45, of Niles, received a sentence of 180 days in jail with credit for 126 already served, for charges of interfering with electronic communication and domestic violence.
