Dear editor:

Not long ago I became frustrated and mad with the Republican Party for spending too much, issues with government expansion and disregard for the American people.

Last week, Pete Rubalcaba wrote how he is now an independent voter because of what has happened during the last couple of years. No doubt that many of us feel our government is corrupt, deceitful and hurting us all.

We are on the verge of bankruptcy as a nation, states and communities, yet for some stupid reasons, our debts continue to increase at a rate unthinkable a decade ago. For 40 years we have been fed a line of lies saying we need to become energy independent, yet here we are. The swamp never gets drained only expanded. Now our leaders go overseas and talk bad about our country’s principles and values. Our freedoms seem eaten up by worms.

Enough is enough – I’m not taking it anymore. I joined the Cass County Tea Party Group through the Southwest Michigan Tea Party (via Internet). We meet the first Tuesday and the third Thursday of the month. We are also planning a county-wide rally on April 15, 2010. I also went to a couple of Michiana912Project.org meetings and to D.C. on Sept. 12, 2009 and Nov. 5, 2009. I am engaged with our congressman, and one senator, Mr. Levin, doesn’t respond at all.

If you too are more than worried about this country and community’s future, come join us – together we can change things for the better! It won’t be easy, but deep down you know it must get done. What alternatives do we have? What’s going to happen when the dollar collapses? Let’s do this together, after all we are all in it.
