The Small Business Resource Series is designed to provide convenient and useful information for the business owners of the Four Flags and surrounding area and is a collaboration between the Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Michigan College Bertrand Crossing Campus.

Session 1: “Identity Theft: What is Identity Theft and Why Are You at Risk?” Friday, March 26, noon to 1 p.m., Bertrand Crossing Campus.
Mary Cooper, a certified identity theft risk management specialist, will educate consumers about the growing crime of identity theft. She will provide information on the different types of identity theft as well as differentiate between the many consumers ID Theft services available today.
The cost is $10.
Session 2: “Disaster Preparedness for You and Your Business – A Summary Course for the Loss Conscience Business Owner,” Friday, April 9, 8 to 10 a.m., Bertrand Crossing Campus.
Disaster can strike at any time, and isn’t limited to Mother Nature. Is your business prepared to address a total shutdown? Do you have adequate limits of insurance? How will you serve customers while your facilities are being re-established? Join us as we examine these questions and lay the ground-work to beginning a disaster plan that will help your business respond to a loss, recover from a loss, and get back to business faster as a result of preparation. Jon Martin is the instructor. The cost is $20.
Session 3: “Underwriting Yourself: How do Insurance Companies Rate You and Your Business,” Friday, April 16, 8 to 10 a.m., Bertrand Crossing Campus.
Allied Solutions Regional vice president and homegrown Niles resident Jon Martin will serve as our translator from insurance-ese to common sense to help you make the best business decision you can. The group will learn about assessing risk, gain a little background on how companies make their decisions, and learn the tricks to getting the kind of coverage and the kind of deal you need to keep us all afloat in good times and bad. The cost is $20.
Session 4: “Financial Solutions for Business Owners,” Friday, April 30, 8 to 9 a.m., Bertrand Crossing Campus.
As a business owner, you probably have your hands full minding day-to-day activities. In this free Financial Solutions for Business Owners seminar you will learn more about: various banking, retirement plans and insurance options ; valuable strategies that can help you create value outside your business; and strategies for building, creating value for and protecting your business.
