Niles Service League seeking new members
Published 12:23 pm Wednesday, February 24, 2010
The Niles Service League is looking for potential new members.
The Niles Service League was organized by a group of woman interested in the welfare of infants and preschool-aged children. As the years passed, the group’s mission expanded to include children of all ages. The organization provides services for area children in Niles, Brandywine and Buchanan.
Some of their monetary donations include scholarships, camperships, clothing for students, contributions to Project Graduation, Science Olympiad, Meals on Wheels and their Adopt-a-Christmas family project along with many other community programs. They support these projects through fundraisers.
NSL provides the following volunteer services to the community:
• Bloodmobile reminder calls for the American Red Cross
• Bell-ringing for the Salvation Army
• Free, safe and fun games at the Apple Festival Youth Day
• Babysitting Clinic for fifth and sixth grade students located at the Lakeland Medical Center
• Deliver Meals-on-Wheels monthly
• Provide needed clothing, glasses and other items to students in the community through our School Liaison Program
Requirements of membership are a three-year commitment, yearly dues and attendance at monthly meetings the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. from September through June.
