Fund set up for former Tyler employees drained

Hill Phoenix, parent company to the former Tyler Refrigeration, previously set up a fund to help former employees that were affected by the closing of Tyler in Niles.  In just 10 days of appointments that began Jan. 20, more than 100 families/individuals have been seen and assisted.

Due to the overwhelming response, the funds have nearly been exhausted and the project must come to a close, the United Way of Greater Niles stated in a press release. This takes into account several appointments already booked and calls made to the appointment number and left in the voicemail by 5 p.m. today.

In the only communication, a press release to Niles Daily Star, it was stated that this fund would be available to former Tyler employees on a first-come, first-serve basis, while funds were available and would require documentation of needs and verification of employment status with the company.

Call First Call for Help at (269) 925-7707, between the hours of 8:30 and 5 p.m. and they may be able to provide you with information and referrals to meet your un-met or additional needs.

“We are extremely thankful for the generosity that Hill Phoenix showed by setting up this fund to assist so many people with their needs in the Niles community,” United Way said in its release.
