Edwardsburg upset by Bridgman Bees

BRIDGMAN – The hopes of the Edwardsburg girls’ basketball team of competing for a Lakeland Conference championships were dashed on Monday night as host Bridgman upset the Eddies 37-24.

The Bees outscored the Eddies 21-10 in the second half to pull off the upset.

Brandi Gareau led the way with 11 points, while Tyler Tuszynski and Rachel Swords both added eight points.

Rachel Vite had nine points for Edwardsburg, with Mariah Murphy adding seven.

Class C District draw
The Cassopolis girls’ basketball team will travel to White Pigeon to compete in the Class C District Basketball Tournament.

The Rangers received a first round bye and will take on the winner of the White Pigeon-Centreville contest on Wednesday, March 3 at 6 p.m.

White Pigeon and Centreville will square off on Monday, March 1 at 6 p.m.

In the second semifinal on March 1, Marcellus will face Constantine at 7:30 p.m. The winner of that game advances to the semifinals on March 3 against Mendon at 7:30 p.m.

The finals are slated for 7 p.m. on Friday, March 5.

Boys basketball
The Rangers will compete at Centreville High School in the Class C district.

The Rangers will face the winner of the Constantine-Mendon contest on Wednesday, March 10 at 6 p.m.

The Falcons and Hornets will meet up in the tournament opener on March 8 at 6 p.m.

In the second game on March 8, Marcellus and Centreville will compete, with the winner facing White Pigeon on March 10 at 7:30 p.m.

The championship game will be played on Friday, March 12 at 7 p.m.
