Edwardsburg tops Chiefs

EDWARDSBURG – A slow start didn’t stop the Edwardsburg girls’ basketball team from picking up a victory Tuesday night.

The Eddies trailed visiting White Pigeon 12-4 after the first period, but poured in 18 second quarter points to take a 22-20 lead at the intermission.

Edwardsburg (7-6) continued to pour it on in the second half, outscoring the Chiefs 29-16 to earn a 51-36 non-conference victory.

The Eddies opened up a 33-27 advantage heading to the final quarter.

Rachel Vite led a trio of Edwardsburg double digit scorers with 16 points.

Sarah D’Amico added 15 and Emily Kozinski 12.

Morgan Gropp had 12 points to lead White Pigeon.
