Veni’s success should be attributed to past owners

Dear editor:
I also found the article about Veni’s Sweet Shop to be disrespectful to the dear, sweet, previous owner, Mr. Marazita, and his family. When I read the article, I couldn’t believe my eyes. The first thing I took exception to is the new owner’s statements about improvements to the business. In my opinion, you can’t improve upon perfection. They could have conveyed updates, etc. without being so braggadocios. Secondly, I thought it would have been more appropriate to say they have created authentic white chocolate, but still offer Veni’s white confection for those who love it. Lastly, I find it hard to believe any “new” decor could be any more charming than Veni’s original shop.
I also feel much sadness that the homemade candy, that I believe tasted so good because every piece was created with love, is a thing of the past.
Mrs. Pratl’s letter was right on. It is unsettling the new owners don’t seem to appreciate why The Veni was such a success for so many years. I really do wish the new owners continued success; however, their success may depend on their ability to acquire some humility.
