State Rep. John Proos made a stop in Niles alongside fellow representative Sharon Tyler on Friday. The two legislators were at Eastside Elementary School to present a gift of school supplies that teachers said they were in need of. Proos teamed up with Wal-Mart for the second year in a row to distribute items to teachers in classrooms throughout the county.

“I think any time that you can coordinate local community support, be it corporate support … or private businesses … it is not an insignificant contribution,” Proos said.

“Schools,” he added, “are an integrated part of our communities. I wish we could do more for more of those teachers.”
