CASSOPOLIS – Despite a slow start Tuesday night, the host Cassopolis girls’ basketball team was able to knock off Lake Michigan Catholic 44-36.

The Rangers found themselves down 15-8 after one quarter of action, but outscored the Lakers 14-4 in the second quarter to take a 22-19 lead at halftime.

The Rangers increased their lead to five points (32-27) heading to the fourth quarter.

Cassopolis’ Reese Ellison led all scorers with 19 points, while Damonica Kelly added 10 points.

Megan Broderick led Lake Michigan with 11 points.

The Rangers are back in action on Thursday night as they host Berrien Springs.
