Residents of Niles don’t need to go far to find a romantic dinner theater production around Valentine’s Day.

Dale and Martha Banks, the president and secretary of the Four Flags Players, will perform “Love Letters,” a Pulitzer Prize-nominated two-person drama Feb. 8 at the Niles Riverfront Cafe at 7:30 p.m.

The prices for the dinner and the show vary based on the food ordered. Menu prices are between $23 and $27.

“‘Love Letters’ is a back and forth between a man named Andrew Makepeace and a woman by the name of Melissa Gardner,” Dale said. “It’s them reading the letters that they sent back and forth over a period of their lives.”

These notes, letters and cards are written over the course of 50 years and deal with the couple’s hopes, dreams and disappointments.

“It’s a fun show in a venue we’ve never used before with a dinner approach to a play,” he said. “Around Valentine’s Day it’s appropriate.”

Dale is the chairman of the St. Mary’s College Education Department, while Martha is the artist in residence at St. Mary’s School in Niles.
