Scholarship program teaches kids 7-12 about pageantry

The Southwest Michigan Scholarship Program now has three instructional programs for boys and girls ages 7-12. These three programs are the first step to learning about pageantry. They are taught about involvement in their community along with love, respect, encouragement and honor of themselves and others.
Entry forms are now available for the 2010 Southwest Michigan’s Prince & Princess Programs. Scholarships and gifts worth $1,000 will be given away.
There are three phases of competition. The first phase is Interview, which counts for 60 percent; the second phase is Formal Wear, which counts for 30 percent; and the third phase is the On-Stage Question, which counts for 10 percent of the contestant’s score.
The program is scheduled for Saturday, April 24 at 2 p.m. and will be held at the Watervliet High School Auditorium. Boys and girls interested must be 6-9 years old, living in the greater southwest Michigan area for at least six months.
Entry forms for the 2010 Southwest Michigan’s Pre-Teen Program are also available. Scholarships and gifts worth $1,000 will be given away.

The first phase is Interview, which counts for 50 percent; the second phase is Evening Wear, which counts for 25 percent; the third phase is Active Wear, which counts for 20 percent; and the fourth phase is the On-Stage Question, which counts for 5 percent of the contestants score.
The program is scheduled for Saturday, April 24 at 7 p.m. at Watervliet High School Auditorium. Young women interested must be 10-12 years old, living in greater southwest Michigan area for at least six months.
The new representatives will be expected to involve themselves by volunteering in the community in their year of service. They will also be promoting the Southwest Michigan Scholarship Program and its supporters and sponsors.
