Area organizations joining forces with church for collection drive

More than 75 tons of food and personal care items will be distributed Saturday to area families in need through the annual Granger Community Church (GCC) food drop.
About 2,500 volunteers are expected to meet at 9 a.m. at both Granger Community Church’s campus on University Drive and the Elkhart campus at the RV Hall of Fame in Elkhart to load boxes of groceries and personal care items onto trucks and semi-trailers for deliver to nine non-profit agencies and 13 neighborhoods with in St. Joseph, Elkhart and Marshall counties.
Granger is once again partnering with the international hunger relief organization Feed the Children to provide items for the food drop.
The following organizations and neighborhood groups with help coordinate food distribution to individual families, in addition to receiving food for their own kitchens and pantries:
• In Niles – Gateway Plaza Apartments and St. Mary’s Catholic Church
• In Mishawaka – Barbee Creek, Oak Grove Mobile Home Park and River View 500
• In South Bend – Edison Gardens, Faith Baptist Church, Harbor Homes, La Case De Amistad, Little Flower Catholic Church Food Pantry, Monroe Circle, Monroe Circle Community Center and Western Manor
• In Elkhart – Rosedale Terrace, Helping Hands, Faith Mission, Church Community Services, Malcom Drive and Moffat Lane, Washington Gardens, Center for Hope and Healing, God’s Kitchen, Bristol Food Pantry and various Elkhart Housing Authority sites
• In Plymouth – Plymouth Neighborhood Center
