Doris Jean Benjamin, 78, of 14663 Range Line Rd., Buchanan died at 4:57 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009 at Lakeland Hospital-Niles of natural causes.

She was born Jan. 13, 1931 in Buchanan, where she was a lifetime resident. She married Erwin “Doc” Roy Benjamin on Sept. 16, 1950 in Buchanan.

She was a member of the Buchanan Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She worked at Ree’s Jewelry in Buchanan and at Moccasin School Library for nine years.

She is survived by her husband, Erwin; sons, Mark LeRoy Benjamin of Buchanan, Craig Alan Benjamin of Fife Lake, Mich. and Bart Colin (Sue) Benjamin of Niles; four grandchildren, Justin, Tiffany, Bradley and Anna; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at the Buchanan Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Buchanan with minister John Tacket officiating.

Burial will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles at a later date.
