Several young men exploded a giant fire cracker at the Lee Bros. corner Saturday night, July 1, about 9 o’clock.
Marshal Cauffman arrested one of them.

The gypsy camp located near the Colby Mill Pond just east of the city broke up this morning at the urgent request of Highway Commissioner White of LaGrange Township.
The gypsies passed through the city enroute west, giving a bear dance for the amusement of citizens at the south end of Front Street.

Dowagiac’s 13 dealers in liquors, which includes both saloonists and druggists, paid a total of $325 to Internal Revenue.
Each dealer paid $25 for a license.
Gustave Weiland paid $50 for a wholesale license.

It was decided to front the Carnegie library on New York Avenue instead of on Commercial Street.
It was preferred the residence street instead of the business street. (But it didn’t end up like the paper stated, did it?)
•••
Sneak thieves worked the city between Saturday night and Monday morning and got at least $100 worth of gold loot.
Every scrap of gold they could find in the offices of Dr. Cory and Dr. Spence, who were local dentists.

The 37the Commencement will be held June 24 at the Beckwith Theatre with 14 graduating.
Only one in the picture I recognized was Don Reshore, who used to be my Orchard Street neighbor.
•••
Charles Meshew of Dowagiac unloaded a plan to St. Joseph residents for reclaiming waste land near the city.
He also said that Fred Lee and H.H. Porter of Dowagiac were interested in securing a location there for a new automobile factory.

The tennis squad, coached by John Kauffman included Hubert Langley, Kenneth Bailey, Frances Bailey, Bill Shanafelt and Dick Burke.
Bob Bobik was golf coach.
John Siczek, Bob Huller, Hubert Langley, Mike Bobik, Chester Stelmasiak and Pete Laszynski were on the team.
