City Council meets Monday

At a special meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, Dowagiac City Council, which failed to field a quorum for either of its meetings in November, will fill two vacancies.
From nine candidates interviewed this week, the council will fill the First Ward vacancy created by Darron Murray’s resignation and the Second Ward vacancy created by Wayne Comstock’s resignation.
Oaths of office will be administered so the new members can join the council at the table.
The council meets on the second level of City Hall, 241 S. Front St.
Also on the draft agenda released Thursday is City Manager Kevin Anderson reporting on the assessor agreement, communications from elected city officials indicating their compliance with Section 14.11 of the Dowagiac City Charter (to be received and placed on file) and communications from various city employees indicating their compliance with Section 14.11 of the Dowagiac City Charter (to be received and placed on file).
Resolutions the council will consider include:
1. Resolution authorizing an amendment to the city’s Classification and Compensation System.
2. Resolution to approve a service agreement between the City of Dowagiac and Woodlands Behavioral Healthcare Network for FY2009-10.
3. Resolution to approve and extend the employment agreement between the City of Dowagiac and the city manager.
4. Resolution setting the public hearing date for an IFT application from Creative Foam.
4. Resolution authorizing final budget amendments for FY 2008-09.
5. Resolution canceling the Dec. 14 regular City Council meeting.
6. Resolution to authorize the finance director to pay $213,553.03 bills and payroll due for Nov. 9.
7. Resolution to authorize the finance director to pay $316,186.26 bills and payroll due for Nov. 23.
9. Resolution to authorize the finance director to pay $516,560.88 bills and payroll due for Dec. 7.
