Award-winning art on display at LMC

Awards have been announced in the Northern Indiana Artists Inc. membership show through Dec. 20 at Lake Michigan College at Bertrand Crossing, 1905 Foundation Drive, Niles.

The art can be viewed from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. The college will be closed Nov. 25 to 29. The college is located in the Bertrand Crossing Industrial Park, southwest of Niles at the intersection of U.S. 31 and U.S. 12 in Bertrand Township.

The exhibit includes 34 works in watercolor, pastel, oil, acrylic, graphite, stoneware, photography and mixed media. All awards carried a monetary prize.

The judge was John Hunerjager, art faculty member at Lake Michigan College.

Judge’s awards went to Lea Goldman, Gloria Kingery and Daniel Slattery of South Bend and Donna Arnold of Goshen.

Merit awards went to Scott McKibbin and Joan Spohrer of South Bend, Barbara DeLeu of Mishawaka, and Cynthia Dietz of LaGrange.

Northern Indiana Artists has 110 members and celebrated its 65th year of operation in 2007. Meetings are held at the South Bend Regional Museum of Art or Studio Arts Classes, Mishawaka, at 1 p.m. the second Sundays of September, November, January and March. For membership information: P.O.
