First Source Bank is moving on up.

Up Main Street, that is.

The bank is relocating its downtown Niles banking center located at 127 E. Main St. in Niles and moving to a remodeled, more spacious location just two blocks east at 306 E. Main St., inside the Fisher Building.

The move is unique and even appropriate.

The building used to be home to the old Federal Savings and Loan, making for a rather convenient move for the financial institution, complete with vault.

Staff over at First Source have been busy preparing for – and in some cases – getting used to its new location. The bank remained open at its 127 Main location, with some employees making the move earlier than today.

It will officially operate out of its new location as of today.

“First Source has been a part of the Niles Downtown area for more than 10 years and we are excited to move into our new location,” said Carri Harrington, manager of the Niles banking center.

Harrington added that she felt it important that all of the staff be together.

At their offices located inside the Gallery building downtown, staff have been separated with some offices detached from the main teller area.

“This new location will allow us to grow and continue to deliver the straight talk and sound advice that people have come to expect from First Source,” Harrington said.

The Niles downtown banking center will continue to be open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Construction continued throughout the weekend to put the insides of the bank together. Harrington said there was a desire to make sure business was not interrupted.

Aside from the posted signs on the bank’s front door, Harrington said that First Source staff have been calling their clients personally to make sure they’re aware of the move. A mass mailing was also sent to clients.

First Source Corporation, parent company of First Source Bank, has assets of $4.5 billion and is the largest locally controlled financial institution headquartered in the northern Indiana-southwestern Michigan area.
