Home in Howard searched for narcotics

Tuesday at approximately 8:35 p.m., the Berrien County Sheriff Department’s Narcotics Unit with assistance from the Berrien County Sheriff Department’s Niles Township Road Patrol executed a search warrant for illegal narcotics at 1803 Howard St. in the Township of Niles, following a week long investigation into suspected narcotic activity at this residence.

At the time of the search warrant execution, the officers located Steven Alan Roberts Jr., 25, of 2238 E. Bertrand Road. Niles, and another 25-year-old Niles Township resident inside of this residence.

When the officers entered the residence, these two individuals were in the processing of “rolling up a marijuana joint.”

During a search of this residence, the officers located and seized approximately $250 worth of marijuana as well as other pieces of evidence in regards to illegal narcotic activity.

The officers also seized $2,247.00 in U.S. Currency and a 1994 Saturn under the State of Michigan’s Civil Forfeiture Law.

Roberts, who has four prior narcotic related convictions through the Berrien County Trial Courts since 2001 was lodged at the Berrien County Jail pending his arraignment in the Berrien County Trial Courts on a charge of Possession of Marijuana 2nd Offense.

The Berrien County Sheriff Department’s Narcotics Unit will also be seeking an arrest warrant for the 25-year-old male subject through the Berrien County Trial Courts on charges of Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Deliver 2nd Offense and Maintaining a Drug House.
