LaPointe makes return visit

Fort St. Joseph Museum will host Sitting Bull’s great-grandson for a book signing event on Oct. 5, 6 and 7. The book: Sitting Bull: His Life and Legacy, was written by Ernie LaPointe, Sitting Bull’s great-grandson. He is a Sundancer like his grandfather and lives the traditional way of the Lakota. LaPointe’s book is the only biography of Sitting Bull written by a lineal descendant.

Oct. 5 and 6 at 7 p.m., LaPointe will speak briefly at the Niles Fire Department followed by the signing of his book: The book will be available for purchase at the program.  Cost: $20. The Fire Department is located at 1345 E. Main St., Niles.

On Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., LaPointe will be at the Fort St. Joseph Museum, 508 E. Main St., Niles to meet the public and sign his book.

LaPointe’s DVDS:  Part I The Authorized Biography of Sitting Bull and Part II Thank you Grandfather, We still Live, by Ernie La Pointe will also be available for purchase at the museum. Cost for the DVDs and book is $20 each.

The public will also be able to view Sitting Bull’s pictographs and the leggings he was wearing when he was killed.

These programs are open to the public and there is no admission fee.
