Edward Hankins Jr., 57, of Cassopolis, passed away Tuesday evening, Sept. 15, 2009, at his home.

The family will receive friends on Friday from noon until 2 p.m. at McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home, Dowagiac, where his funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. led by Pastor Robert Vickroy of Calvary Bible Church.

He will be laid to rest in Mission Hills Cemetery, Niles.

Ed’s life began on Nov. 28, 1951, in Dowagiac, the son of Edward and Grace (Boerman) Hankins.

He was a 1970 graduate of Dowagiac Union High School.

Ed was a truck driver employed by P and P Transport in Constantine for many years.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. Ed enjoyed travel and went to many states in the country and Canada.

His family includes: his father, Edward Hankins Sr. of Cassopolis; brother, Duane Hankins of Cassopolis; sisters, Carol (Neil) Pence Jr. of Cassopolis, Kathy (Larry) Swank of Cassopolis, Diane (Dwight) Jackson of Niles, Sue (Rick) Johnson of Elkhart, Ind., Mary (Robert) Wilds of Niles and Julie Hankins of Indiana; 11 nieces; five nephews; 15 grandnephews; and six grandnieces.

Ed is preceded in death by his mother, Grace Hankins, in 1994 and a sister, Patti Hankins.
Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
