The Brandywine Black Alumni Association is planning the first-ever reunion of the African American community of Niles Township, bringing together the African American students and families of the Brandywine school system, to be held in August of 2010.
“There was once a strong, close-knit community of African Americans supporting and attending Brandywine schools,” says chairperson, Joe Woods, a ’69 graduate. “This reunion will be a unique and exciting opportunity to share past and present experiences and to play catch-up with old friends.”
While details of the August 2010 event are being finalized, the group is seeking to contact all African American students who attended school in the Brandywine system and the parents of those students.
