Fall lecture series returns Sept. 2

DOWAGIAC – The Museum at Southwestern Michigan College on Thursday announced its fall lecture series opening next month.

The first of the Wednesday evening programs falls on Sept. 2 with Paul Pipik of The Heritage Museum and Cultural Center talking on “West Michigan Warships: World War II Shipbuilding in the Twin Cities.”

Oct. 7 brings “How to Restore a Round Oak Stove” by restorers Bill Krohne and Mark Luthringer.

Heidi Connor of the Edward Lowe Foundation in Cassopolis Nov. 4 traces “Ed Lowe’s Entrepreneurial Journey.”

The series winds up Dec. 2 with “Adaptive Resistance: An Archaeological Look at Changing Potawatomi Lifestyles in Southwest Michigan” by archaeologist Dr. Ben Secunda.

All lectures are free to the public and take place in the Upton room of the museum on the Dowagiac campus on first Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
