COA September activities

CASSOPOLIS – The following activities are scheduled the Cass County Council on Aging in September:

Sept. 2, Wednesday: Lunchtime Little Theater. The Misfits return for a fun-filled musical experience starting at noon. Entertainment is free; lunch may be purchased for about $5.

Sept. 2, Wednesday: Low Vision Support Group. 1-3 p.m.

Sept. 3, Thursday: Medication Drop-off. Bring in unused, expired or unwanted medications for proper disposal from 10 a.m. to noon. Medications must be in their original, labeled containers and signed in when dropped off.

Sept. 3, 10, 17 and 24, Thursdays: Any Body Conditioning Class. Work on strength and toning using free weights with instructor Ron Christopher. 6 p.m.

Sept. 4, 18 and 25, Fridays: Knitting Club. 10 a.m.

Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26, Saturdays: Yoga. Stretch and strengthen with registered instructor Margaret Filchak from 9 to 10 a.m. $8 per class.

Sept. 7, Monday: COA closed for Labor Day.

Sept. 11, Friday: Senior Health Fair. Free health fair includes tests, activities and screenings for better health. Some tests require appointments; call (800) 323-0390 or (269) 445-8110 for more information. 8 a.m. to noon.

Sept. 14, Monday: Brain Aerobics. “Fitness for your Mind” exercises the brain and stimulates neurons. This is a free class, but you must register due to space limitations. 10 a.m. to noon.

Sept. 14, Monday: Movies for Grown-ups. First in a film series, “Frost/Nixon” was voted by AARP as the best movie for grown-ups in 2008. Enjoy the film and free popcorn beginning at 1 p.m.

Sept. 21, Monday: Cancer Support Group. 1 p.m.
