DECATUR – The Van Buren Regional Genealogical Society (VBRGS) will hold its monthly society meeting on Monday, Aug. 24, at 7 p.m. at Webster Memorial Library, 200 N. Phelps St., Decatur. The program for the evening will be “Detroit and Wayne County – Where Are the Records?” presented by Ruth McMahon, AG Professional Genealogist, who resides in the Detroit area.
She will be discussing the many valuable records that are kept in Wayne County and provide information about the Burton Historical Collection. This program will be helpful to both experienced and beginning researchers.
Preceding the general meeting there will be a “Family History Essentials” series class entitled “Putting it Together For Research” from 6-6:45 in the local history room.
Toni I. Benson, local history librarian for the Van Buren District Library, will conduct this mini-class, demonstrating some ways to prepare family history notes for research trips, and how to fill out Family Group Sheets and Pedigree Charts.
These classes are open to the public.
The Van Buren Regional Genealogical Society encourages the public to attend its meetings as its guest.
