COLOMA – The Niles junior varsity volleyball team opened up its season Friday by winning the Coloma Early Bird Volleyball Invitational.

The Lady Vikings defeated Mattawan (21-18, 21-17), Brandywine (21-10, 21-15), Cassopolis (21-5, 21-12), Watervliet (21-17, 21-12), Lakeshore (21-17, 21-169, Gull Lake (21-16, 21-17) and Battle Creek Lakeview (21-13, 16-21 and 15-11).

"Our ladies have put in a tremendous amount of time, energy, and effort into their summer and pre-season play, today they put it together and showed how hard work pays off,” Niles coach Alyse Hoyt said. ‘We work very well together and absolutely love the game, our Niles program looks forward to what more may come from this type of team chemistry."
