CASSOPOLIS – The second Annual School Supply Spectacular will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22.

“With the current state of economy and unemployment rate as it is we are anticipating more families will need help this year. Some parents and caregivers simply will not be able to afford to purchase the numerous items needed, especially those that have multiple students in the home.” stated Pam Swaim, Lewis Cass ISD School Supply Event Coordinator.

“When children are given the tools they need we believe it helps build their self-esteem and empowers them to have an equal and confident approach toward school success.”
The total budget for this project is $21,460 which averages out to approx. $14.30 per student. In addition to purchasing the backpacks and supplies, there are costs incurred for marketing, operational equipment, and Porta-Johns.

This project would not be possible if not for the financial support from Cass County Youth Council, Midwest Energy, United Way, St. Denys Foundation, Pamida Foundation, McLoughlin Family Foundation, and Edward Lowe Foundation.

Community members, civic organizations, agencies, and church communities who would like to sponsor one or more children for the School Supply Spectacular please mail your tax-deductible donation made payable to:  Lewis Cass ISD, 61682 Dailey Rd., Cassopolis, MI  49031. Please note “Adopt a Student” on your remittance.

Licensed hairdressers and barbers are also volunteering their time to give basic haircuts at the event, held at the Lewis Cass Intermediate School District Building on Dailey Road in Cassopolis from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
