BERRIEN SPRINGS – Elizabeth Hein of Galien and Colin Klug of Eau Claire will represent the Berrien County Youth Fair as the queen and king at this week’s fair. The new royalty were chosen Sunday night during a contest in the Grandstand at the fair.
First runner ups to the queen and king are Mystique Wieand, 17, of Eau Claire and Patrick Coreville, 18, of Coloma.

The new king and queen will have a busy week serving as public relations representatives of the fair, handing out ribbons and trophies, and attending ceremonies and concerts throughout the week, in addition to showing their exhibits.

Elizabeth is a 16-year-old senior at Buchanan High School who participates in basketball, cross country, track, year book, and National Honor Society outside of the fair. She has been an exhibitor at the fair since 1998, and shows beef, swine, dairy, and still exhibits.  When she graduates from high school next year she plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in business, specializing in sales and marketing. She is the daughter of Ron and Lupe Hein.
Colin is an 18-year-old senior at Lake Michigan Catholic High School who plays varsity basketball, works as a lifeguard, and participates in Youth to Youth. He also enjoys car shows, modifying cars, and snowboarding. He plans to study computer engineering and software design after graduation next year.  Colin has been a Berrien County Youth Fair exhibitor since 1998 and shows dogs, rabbits, llamas, and still exhibits.  He is the son of Kirt and Christine Klug.

The 64th annual Berrien County Youth Fair runs through Saturday, Aug. 22 with the theme “A Blue Ribbon Celebration.”
