CASSOPOLIS – Dale A. Parsons, 59, of Cassopolis, passed away suddenly Saturday morning, Aug. 15, 2009, at his home.

He was born Sept. 23, 1949, in South Bend, Ind., the son of Victor and Evelyn (Flessner) Parsons. He lived his entire life in Cassopolis.

Dale married Janice A. McIntyre April 15, 1972, in Niles.

His wife survives, along with: five children, Jennifer A. McDaniel and her husband, Kevin, of Cassopolis; Kara D. Johnson and her husband, Scott, of Cassopolis; Emily Parsons and her fiance, Rick Bukowski of Dowagiac; Kim Parsons; and Andrew V. Parsons, both of Cassopolis; seven grandchildren; Quinn McDaniel, Lola McDaniel, Alex McDaniel, Maile Barber, Hunter Parsons, Sabrina Bukowski and Roman Bukowski; and his devoted mother-in-law, Elizabeth McIntyre of Cassopolis.

Dale was employed for most of his life at Service Oil Co. of Cassopolis.

He had been a member of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany.

Dale was a person who loved being around people.

He especially loved his family and grandchildren, and he enjoyed tending his fruit trees, making sure the birds were well-fed, playing golf, bowling, traveling, collecting tractors and beer steins and attending tractor pull events at the Cass County Fair.

He was truly a friend to all. Due to his love for trees, Dale’s family would be please if his friends were to purchase a young tree and plant it at home in their yard in Dale’s memory.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m. at Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis.

Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. David M. Waid, pastor at The Dailey Church, Cassopolis. Interment will follow.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m.
