Winners of Fernwood Botanical Garden’s Window Box Challenge 2009 have been selected.

In the Business category, the First Presbyterian Church of Buchanan was chosen for its matched grouping of three window boxes in the vestibule, where the colors of the full and healthy annuals complemented the brick of the church.

Dick and Mae Proud in Buchanan won in the Residential category with their arrangement of four beautifully maintained window boxes bursting with mixed annuals of many colors. In the Youth category, seven-year-old Brighton Lee of Buchanan won for his well-tended bright orange window box at his bedroom window that matched his goldfish-themed curtains.

The judging was done by Fernwood garden volunteers who took into consideration creativity, use of color, originality, theme, and overall design.
