August will be amazing in the Children’s Department at the Niles District Library.
During the month of August, American Girls, Summer Sports, the Berenstein Bears, author Robert Munsch, pigs and other fun topics will be featured through books in displays for fast check out. Look for take home coloring pages near the displays. They are always free.
The topic for display books are chosen carefully to reflect holidays, outstanding authors or series, current events or trends and popular subjects.

Last Blast of Summer will begin Monday, Aug. 31 and end on Saturday, Sept. 5. Board games will be available everyday along with crafts and coloring pages to take home. Sign up for a huge raffle that will take place on Saturday. Winners will be called the next week. A good time is sure to be had by everyone.

This program is sure to chase away the late summer boredom blues.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. Ronald McDonald will stir things up with his “Go Active” program. Through songs, magic and personality, Ronald has the cure for all couch potatoes. Don’t miss this exciting event.

On Wednesday, Sept. 2, the last Blast of Summer will host Jim Merrills coming back to teach cup stacking. He will be demonstrating this fast-growing sport at 1 p.m. No registration will be required.
