Rosella M. Guentert, 101, formerly of Buchanan and Niles, died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at West Woods of Niles, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at Saint Anthony Catholic Church, Buchanan, with the Rev. Mathew Manalel of the church officiating.
Burial will be in Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
Friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, when the recitation of the Rosary will take place.
She was born on May 24, 1908, in South Bend, Ind., to Maxilillion Eble and Kathrine Mischker Eble.
She graduated from Central High School in South Bend, Ind. and has lived in Niles and Buchanan for many years.
As a young lady, she was formerly employed at Ellsworth’s in South Bend, Ind.
She was a member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church, Buchanan, where she served with the Altar Society, Flowers and Altar Linen.
She enjoyed playing cards and crochet.
On June 27, 1935, in South Bend, Ind., she married Aloysius R. Guentert, who died on May 7, 1979.
She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Adelaide M. Lovell, who died in 2008 and Marilyn Smith, who died in 2003; grandsons, Carl Smith, Scott Smith and another grandson who died in infancy; also one brother and three sisters.
Surviving family includes a son, John A. Guentert of Niles; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Eble of Angola, Ind.; a sister, Francis Thornton of South Bend, Ind. and a friend, Janet Begin, who provided her care.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Anthony Catholic Church, Buchanan, or Hospice At Home.
