To the editor:

This has been on my mind several days, so I decided I should say it.

The sand sculpture in downtown Niles is an impressive creation and I give thanks to the gifted sculptor.

Some people who at times look about with the intent to do damage to, or destroy, apparently don’t live in Niles. This sculpture could have already been ruined – but it is still there, still accepting our looks of appreciation.

I just want to thank everyone for your pride in our city, for the dignity, self control and maturity you have displayed.
