Whitney Joy Criswell of 3870 Woodman Drive, Troy, is engaged to be married at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at First United Methodist Church, Dowagiac, to Daniel Paul Ostyn of 33981 Indian Trail, Eau Claire.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Scott and Naomi Criswell, 61078 Spencer Road, Cassopolis.
She graduated from Cassopolis Ross Beatty High School in 2002 and with honors in May 2009 from Oakland University in Rochester with a bachelor of arts degree in communication.
She is employed as a nanny for the Virkus family in Rochester.
Parents of the prospective bridegroom are Dennis and Carol Ostyn of 33981 Indian Trail, Eau Claire.
Mr. Ostyn graduated from Dowagiac Union High School in 2000 and from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant in December 2006 with a bachelor of science degree in education.
He is sports coordinator for the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph YMCA.
