Stephen Maines, 21, of South 13th Street, Niles, died at 9:05 a.m. Sunday, July 19, 2009, at South 11th Street of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, July 23, at Fulkerson Park Baptist Church, Niles, with the Rev. Brad Lomax of Emmanuel Baptist Bible Church and the Rev. Ryan Loveing, Life Action Ministries of the Rev. Dan Puckett, Life Action Ministries.

Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Life Action’s National Ministry Center at 2727 Niles-Buchanan Road.

He was born on Aug. 22, 1987, in Berrien Center, to John Allen Maines and Sheila Joann Getzinger Maines. He was a graduate of home school and had lived in Niles all of his life.

He was employed at Life Action Ministries.
Stephen was an active member of the local community of evangelical Christians. He went on mission trips to Central America and El Salvador, with Living Waters International.

At Life Action Ministries, he had completed a 10-month tour and had participated in the mission to help clean up from hurricane Katrina.

He was an honorary member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.
Surviving family include his parents, John and Sheila Maines of Niles; his siblings, Andrew Maines, Joanna Maines, Susanna Maines, David Maines, Deborah Maines, Reuben Maines, Joshua Maines, Mary Maines and Caleb Maines, all at home; his grandparents, Cloyd and Dorothy Maines of Huntington, Penn. and John and Jean Getzinger of Alton, Mo.; his great-grandmother, Dorothy Maines of Huntington, Penn. and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons, the Niles Burn Run, Living Water
International or Life Action Ministries.
