CASSOPOLIS – At the July 13 Regular Meeting of the Cassopolis Village Council, the following actions were taken:
Approved Ordinance No. 245 False Alarm Cost Recovery at first reading.
Approved the purchase of six air cylinders for the Fire Department.
Approved casting a ballot for the re-election of Larry Nielsen, as a trustee to the Michigan Municipal League Workers' Compensation Fund. Nielsen is the Paw Paw Village Manager.
The Village received several positive comments from the public regarding the nearly complete Rowland Street project.
Kevin Gillette, Village Manager, reported that the street lights were scheduled to be installed this week, possibly as soon as Wednesday July 15.
Gillette reported that the project should come in at very nearly the original budget of $195,000. Of the total, $120,000 is from the Michigan Rural Transportation Fund.
One resident expressed concerns about neighborhood children riding bikes and running skateboards across the newly installed curbing and sidewalks.
Gillette reported the FEMA Grant application was submitted by the July 10 deadline. If approved, this would provide funds to construct a new fire station.
