Willie J. Anderson Mingle, 65, of Cass Street, Niles, died at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Monday, July 13, at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles. Pastor Raymond Massey of New Beginnings Ministries, Niles, will officiate.
Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
He was born on Oct. 26, 1943, at Memphis, Tenn. to Val Anderson, Sr. and Mollie F. Mingle.
He had lived in Niles for 25 years coming from Memphis, Tenn.
He retired in 2003 after 13 years of service from United Store Fixtures in Niles.
He was a member of New Beginnings Ministries in Niles and John W. Moore Masonic Lodge No. 42 F. & A.M. in Niles.
He enjoyed computers, fishing, cooking and helping others.
Surviving family includes a companion, Ella Maxwell of Niles; sons, Marshall Palmer of Champaign, and Donald J. Ward of Mishawaka, Ind.; a daughter, Erica Ann Maxwell of Indianapolis; Six grandchildren, including Amanda Marie Palmer-Barnett of Peoria, Ill.; sisters, Brenda Richmond of South Bend, Ind., Patricia Anderson of Lancaster, Calif., Mary Jean (Randal) harmon of Fort Worth, Texas, Vaassie M. Dailey of Memphis, Tenn. and Linda Shaw of Cincinnati, Ohio; brothers, Val (Bonnie) Anderson, Jr. of Milwaukee, Wis. and Ronnie D. DeShazer of Niles and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcella Palmer, who died in August 1993.
Arrangements were by Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
