Hazel C. ‘Dolly’ Miller / 1937-2009

Dolly Miller of Cassopolis passed away peacefully on June 17, 2009, after a brief illness.

A short family gathering will be held to celebrate her life, love and legacy.

Dolly was born on Jan. 21, 1937, in Cassopolis to Clarence and Lucille Burmeister and lived in the Cassopolis area her whole life.

On Jan. 21, 1954, she married Harry Miller. They began a long and happy life together, raising four children, Beverly, Charles, Carolyn and Jim.

After raising her children she worked for years at the Cassopolis Public Schools as a paraprofessional, which brought her great joy and many lasting friendships.

Dolly greatly enjoyed traveling on short and long trips with her family and friends and holiday gatherings with extended family.

She was known for her generosity for helping others and will be greatly missed by all who knew, loved and counted on her.

Dolly is survived by: her husband, Harry of Cassopolis; daughter, Beverly (Rick) Senger of Niles; son, Charles (Belinda) Miller of Cassopolis; daughter, Carolyn Beatty of Leesburg, Ind.; and son, Jim (Kim) Miller of Weideman.

She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Michael (Jen) Senger, Beth (Cary) Gillam, Nicole (Shane) Ditty, Derek Miller and Samantha Miller. Dolly was also very proud of her step-grandchildren, Jerrod Sherwood, Kristen Pitcher, Heather (Jeff) Christner, Hillary Kammerer and Branden Beatty.

Dolly also leaves behind a brother, Frank (Francis) Burmeister and sisters, Geri Burmeister and Diane Jones.

Also missing her will be her three great-grandchildren, Maizen Gillam and Lill and Emma Ditty, as well as her numerous step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. Preceding her in death are her parents, Clarence and Lucille Burmeister, brothers, Robert, Russell and Eugene Burmeister and sister, Doris Brown.
