Athletics split pair of games with Vicksburg

The A's split a pair of games Monday night at Thomas Stadium with visiting Vicksburg in Senior Division action.
The A's won the first game 6-3, but dropped the nightcap 4-3.

Conrad Smallmon and Tyler Mead combined to spin a six-hitter with four strikeouts.
Mead and Tyler Fisher both doubled for the A's, while Patrick VanKirk had two hits. Brendon Nichols, Brian Exner and Smallmon also had hits.

Rashad Harris had two hits for the A's, who also got hits from VanKirk, Exner, Brad Millin and Smallmon.
Nichols and Millin took the hill for the A's, giving up four runs on three hits with three strikeouts.
District Tournaments
Action in the Michigan District 15 Little League tournaments in baseball and softball got under way on Monday.
In boys' 9-10 baseball, Dowagiac edged Mattawan Gold 19-13, while Coldwater blanked Niles 12-0.
In other 9-10 games, Three Rivers defeated Marcellus 19-1, Schoolcraft defeated Mendon 22-4, Vicksburg Red defeated Mattawan Blue 14-4, Paw Paw and defeated Vicksburg White 16-12.
In Tuesday night contests, Dowagiac edged Centreville 8-7 in 9-10 baseball, while Three Rivers defeated Coldwater 6-3.
The Major Baseball Division got under way with Dowagiac nipping Schoolcraft 9-8, Three Rivers blanking Constantine 11-0, Niles defeated Coldwater 11-3, Mendon topping Paw Paw 15-4 and Vicksburg shutting out White Pigeon 14-0.
In Junior Baseball, White Pigeon blanked Mattawan 10-0.
Tonight, Thomas Stadium will be the sight of a doubleheader as Three Rivers takes on Mendon at 6 and Vicksburg faces Niles at 8.
In Major Softball action Monday, Three Rivers defeated Mendon 11-3, Schoolcraft defeated Vicksburg 20-8 and Mattawan defeated Constantine/Centreville 13-4.
On Tuesday night, Constantine shut out Three Rivers 12-0 and Vicksburg defeated Constantine-Mendon 13-2 in 9-10 Division play.
Tonight, Dowagiac will face Mattawan in Vicksburg in 9-10 Softball, while Dowagiac will take on Three Rivers in Mattawan in Major Softball.
Both games are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
