CASSOPOLIS – Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports that on Wednesday, July 1, at approximately 5:50 p.m. deputies from the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a personal injury accident at the intersection of Five Points Road and Old M-205 in Mason Township.
Autumn Wimmer, 20, of Edwardsburg was northbound on Five Points Road. She had stopped at the intersection of Old M-205, then failed to yield the right of way to a westbound vehicle on Old M-205 driven by Kristine Hayden, 34, of Three Rivers.
Wimmer and a passenger, Haden Blyly, 4, were transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A second passenger in the Wimmer vehicle, Peyton Moore, two months, was uninjured.
A passenger in Hayden's vehicle, Nichole Niece, 28, was also transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Uninjured in the Hayden vehicle was Isaiah Hayden, 5 and Sarah Hayden, 7.
Assisting at the scene was Porter Township Fire Department, Porter Township Ambulance, and Edwardsburg Ambulance.
Seatbelts and child restraints were used by all occupants of both vehicles. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor of the crash.
