Walter Lee 'Bill' Knowlton, 89, of Beebe Road, Niles, died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 6, at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with the Rev. Edward Villalba of Life Action Ministries, officiating.
Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was born on May 31, 1920, in Milton Township, to William Knowlton and Elizabeth Shriner Knowlton.
He was born in the same house as his father, later moving across the road to his current home.
He retired in 1983, after 35 years of service to Simplicity Pattern Company in Niles.
He supported Fulkerson Park Baptist Church in Niles. He enjoyed farming on the family property.
On Nov. 18, 1941, in Niles, he married Mabel May (Horner) Knowlton, who died on May 20, 2009.
He was also preceded in death by a five-month-old daughter, Patricia Joanne "Patty Jo" Knowlton, who died Dec. 26, 1943 and a sister, Mildred Maxwell, who died Jan. 2, 1999.
