GOSHEN, Ind. – Former Edwardsburg standout Corey Johnson has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Goshen College.
Johnson, a catcher, helped lead the Eddies to back-to-back co-Lakeland Conference championships.
He hit .400 this past season with eight doubles, two triples, five home runs and 22 RBIs.
Johnson, who was a four-time All-Lakeland Conference selection, had 101 career stolen bases.
He also earned Division 2 All-District honors the past two seasons.
"We think he can also play the outfield, so between the two positions, he's going to get a lot of chances to play for us early on," Goshen coach Josh Keister said. "He's got speed and is used to hitting at the top of the lineup, so he fits in with what we're trying to do.
"He's a pretty good hitter, not a power hitter, but with enough pop to get the ball into the alleys. And as a catcher, he receives the ball well, throws well. The ball sticks in his glove. It takes quite a bit to get it by him," he added.
Johnson joins' Niles' Andrew Brawley, who committed to Goshen College earlier this year.
