Warm temps mean hot action at Thomas Stadium

The weather has heated up and so has the action at Thomas Stadium for the Greater Niles Little League Junior and Senior division teams.
Giants…9
Indians…6
Matt Schiele and Jordan Griffin combined on a seven-hitter with seven strikeouts as the Giants defeated the Indians 9-6.
Schiele also had a double for the Giants, who got singles from Mike Geiger, Casey Burandt and Alec Landon.
Josh Bell had a double, two singles and two RBIs for the Indians, who also got a pair of doubles an a RBI from Blaine Myers.
Sean Morgan and Gary Sherman took the hill for the Indians.
Rangers…8
Cubs…9
The Cubs knocked the Rangers out of first place with a 9-8 victory.
Keith Jann and Evan Hartman combined on the mound to limit the Rangers to just four hits with 13 strikeouts.
Dakota McDonald had a pair of singles and a RBI for the Cubs, who also got a single from Jake Brentlinger.
Ben Getz had a double for the Rangers, while Alec Nichols singled and drove in a run.
Chris Mangus, Kevin Ballge and Getz all pitched for the Rangers, combining to strikeout 15.
Giants…8

The Giants moved into first place with the 8-6 win over the Rangers.
Fritz Findeisen had a double, single and two RBIs to lead the Giants offensively.
Landon also had a double for the Giants, who got singles and RBIs from Mike Pancoast, Geiger and Alex Erwin.
Erwin and Griffin struck out seven and allowed seven hits for the Giants.
Getz doubled and drove in two runs for the Rangers, while Mangus also doubled and Steve Richards singled and drove in a run.
Chance Ravish had two hits for the Rangers.

Burandt tossed a four-hitter with five strikeouts for the Cubs.
Landon had a double, a home run and four RBIs to pace the Giants.
Findeisen had two doubles, a single and a RBI, while Aaron Pierce singled twice and drove in a run.
Brentlinger singled and drove in a run with McDonald, Hartman and Jann also collecting hits.
Tim Mead took the loss for the Cubs despite five strikeouts.
A's…3
Reds…11
Dustin Bell had a big night for the Reds as he was the winning pitcher and led the team at the plate as well.
Bell fanned 10, walked one and gave up five hits.
At the plate, he had a double, a home run and five RBIs.
The Reds also got a triple and a RBI from Riley Robson. Zach Fillwock added a double and Chandler King a single and two RBIs.
Brendon Keen also singled and drove in a run.
Matthew Toney, Cody Taggart and Bradley Millen combined on the mound for the A's.
Rashad Harris and Brian Exner both had two hits. Patrick VanKirk had a single an a RBI.

Evan Zimmerman, Keen and Robson combined to toss a four-hitter with four strikeouts for the Reds.
Nathan Oates had a pair of hits and a RBI, while Austin Searles doubled and drove in a run.
Millen had a double for the A's. Tony VanKirk and Taggart had the other three hits.
Taggart, Brendon Nichols and VanKirk gave up just six hits and fanned six.

Millen had a double, while Tyler Fisher had two hits.
Robbie Legus had a double and a single to lead the Tigers.

The Tigers scored eight runs in the fifth to break open the 1-1 contest.
Robert Hutton had a double for the Tigers, who also got hits from Andre Hitt, Zack Holt, Kelvin Tweedy and Casey Cochran.
Harris had a triple for the A's. VanKirk and Exner both singled.
